Animais, adoção e histórias do Luan!

Muitos bichinhos! 🐾

I have always been absolutely crazy about animals. Ever since I can remember, I wanted to be around them. Even though I struggled with allergies at some points in my life, growing up surrounded by pets was simply non-negotiable for me.

As a child, I had many cats around!I think there were around seven cats at the same time at one point! I think that, as a child living in the middle of all those cats all over the house, my body just eventually learned to cope with the allergies, lol

Besides always being surrounded by the many animals we had at home, whenever my parents could, they would take me to their chácara (a small farm). There, I had the opportunity to interact with other bigger animals too, which was amazing for me.

In this picture, I was feeding a calf with a totally jerry-rigged bottle made out of a plastic Coca-Cola bottle.

Cuscos, Guaipecas e ONGs 🐕

Our furry friends have many names and ways of being called here in Brazil. In fact, in our "Gaúcho livestream," I even talked about the terms "cusco" and "guaipeca," which are very common ways to refer to dogs in Rio Grande do Sul. Nowadays, there are people who call dogs "dog" or even use the diminutive "doguinho," mixing English and Portuguese.

I dedicated a lot of my time to helping puppies and kittens in the past, so I feel that talking about this is a special topic for me, and it's also really cool to share with you guys both the Portuguese language aspect itself and the cultural side, which has its little differences from language to language and culture to culture.

I have rescued many street animals and always did everything I could to help NGOs and people who dedicated their entire lives to this. Back in the day when I had a band, I even organized charity events and drives to gather lots of dog and cat food to donate to those NGOs and individuals. I always liked to help out in some way, even if it wasn't directly by getting my hands dirty and doing daily volunteer work.

And then, interestingly enough, while looking for a game so we could explore the vocabulary of the pet world, animals, and our interaction with them, I ended up finding this game that portrays exactly this context: an animal shelter simulator.

By the way, eu não comprei o jogo completo para amanhã, viu?

I think it will be really cool for us to explore together all the actions and relevant vocabulary related to the routine of taking care of animals in a shelter. By the way, I didn't buy the full game for tomorrow, okay? I will use the demo because it will allow us to play for exactly 1 hour, which is exactly how long we usually play during the livestreams, so it's fine!

A live de amanhã! 💬

The chat is going to be absurdly important tomorrow in the livestream! You guys will have to help me choose the names for our little pets, and you will also decide whether or not we are going to accept the adopters who try to take them home. But of course, that's only after we give them all the necessary care and pampering so they can be happy and find a perfect family.

And the livestream is going to be really cool too because the submissions sent in for Question of the week #12 are full of cute pet photos that my subscribers shared.

Oh, and for those joining the livestream tomorrow (or for you reading this blog right now!), there is a special 5% discount coupon for any lesson or lesson pack on my website. The coupon code is 🎟️ BICHINHO, so you can already start practicing your new vocabulary!
